Family and sports festival
The UMFÍ National Youth Games have been an integral part of the Verslunarmannahelgi weekend (the August bank holiday) since 1992 and have been held every year since 2002. The Games are a drug- and alcohol-free family and sports festival where children and young people aged 11–18 take part in a wide range of sports, create new memories and enjoy time with family and friends. Alongside the competitions, there are plenty of activities, games, entertainment and a lively atmosphere for the whole family all weekend.
For everyone aged 11–18
All young people aged 11–18 can take part – whether they practise sports regularly or not. You do not need to be registered with a sports club or bring your own team. Participants who come on their own or without a team are simply matched with others and get the chance to take part in sports such as basketball and football in a fun and positive environment.
Registration opens in June 2027
